Goulding’s Jewelers originated in 1852 in Alton, Illinois. The Goulding family owned and operated the business for three generations until selling the business to Vaughn Oberlink.

Vaughn Oberlink went to watch repair school at Bradley University after World War II. After working as a repairman for a couple of years he bought a small store in Farmer City, Illinois. He had trouble making a living for his family so he became the watch repairman for Goulding’s in 1962. He went on to buy the business in 1972.
